Elgg is social networking in a safe, educational environment – essentially the Facebook of the educational world. It is an open source platform developed to encourage social interaction and networking amongst your users, without the administrator giving up control.
Elgg is a flexible and open system that allows users to display and share content (e.g. artwork, creative writing etc) they have created with people of their choice. A variety of applications they feel comfortable applying are freely available to users within the programme, making it easy to start and continuously build a lasting portfolio.
Elgg can be integrated with Moodle to provide an online education environment that will benefit from the strengths of both systems and is seamless to the user.
