Sometimes being deep in a product or application means you don’t know others might be missing the really good stuff, the stuff that you make use of every day.
If you’re a Google Apps or Gmail user, there’s a lot of very handy stuff popping up in Google Labs all the time. For Google Apps users, it may depend on whether your Google Apps administrator has set up your account to allow access to Labs, but if they have, then put on the rubber gloves and get a little experimental.
There are a huge number of Labs features I wouldn’t be without and it’s good to remember that new stuff pops up all the time, such as the ‘Background Sending’ option I read about today. Yes, I have that turned on now. Lovely stuff. The merest minor of annoyances (waiting for email to send before moving on), but one that Labs has erased.
There are experimental features in Gmail, Calendar and Docs and all Google Apps users need do is look out for the bubbling green beaker .
So, snap on the gloves and the safety goggles and go hunting.
